Introducing the First Wave of Participants
Now Part of the Business Innovation Program
TL;DR:
IOTA's Business Innovation Program (BIP) has accepted its first participants to build real-world solutions on the IOTA Mainnet. Impierce enables privacy-first digital identity solutions, Orobo offers a Digital Product Passport platform for sustainable supply chains, and ObjectID assigns verifiable digital identities to physical products for traceability and anti-counterfeiting. Each project will use IOTA’s public Mainnet, tooling and products to deliver transparent, scalable solutions to challenges in compliance, trust, and data integrity.
Earlier this year, we launched our Business Innovation Program (BIP) to support businesses in creating real-world solutions using the newly-upgraded IOTA Mainnet. Now, with the Mainnet live and more powerful than ever, the building truly begins. The program helps teams reach key milestones by offering up to €100,000 in funding, hands-on support, and access to IOTA’s infrastructure..
Today, we’re proud to introduce the first three selected participants. These businesses are using IOTA to bring trust, transparency, and compliance to global challenges in digital identity, sustainability, and product data integrity.

Impierce: Decentralized Identity Infrastructure for a Privacy-Respecting Digital Society
Impierce Technologies is a European social enterprise dedicated to creating secure, privacy-first digital identity solutions. Blending open-source innovation with societal goals, they aim to ensure individuals and organizations can trust digital ecosystems without sacrificing personal data.
Their identity ecosystem is built around three core products:
- UniMe: A self-sovereign identity wallet aligned with the EU’s eIDAS 2.0 regulation.
- UniCore: An agent platform that allows institutions to issue and verify credentials.
- UniTrust: A trust layer enabling B2B/B2C credential verification.
By combining these tools, Impierce offers a comprehensive open-source software stack for secure, user-centric identity across sectors – from education to e-commerce.
How Impierce Solves Real-World Challenges
Impierce addresses urgent challenges, such as:
- Education: Institutions are moving from multi-year degrees to modular learning. Impierce helps them issue verifiable micro-credentials that increase employment mobility, reduce fraud, and support skill-based hiring.
- E-commerce: Impierce brings mutual authentication to webshops, allowing buyers to verify merchants at login. This combats fraud and builds trust for smaller sellers, while also streamlining the checkout process by eliminating passwords and form entry.
- Logistics: Age checks and verified delivery identity enhance safety and accountability.
As part of the Business Innovation Program, we’re working with Impierce to onboard institutions in the Dutch education sector, representing each institution through on-chain IOTA Identities and enabling them to issue verifiable credentials that support flexible, modular learning.
Why IOTA?
For Impierce Technologies, ensuring uninterrupted access to digital identities and certificates is critical, especially in sensitive, real-time scenarios like renting a car or verifying credentials during a job application. Integrating with IOTA’s public Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) guarantees uptime and resilience by decentralizing the availability of identity data across the network. This architecture also enhances user privacy in two key ways. First and if desired by the respective use case, verifiable credentials can entirely be stored and handled off-chain. Second, their verification does not require the involvement of the original certificate issuer, which is an important consideration for maintaining discretion during processes such as job transitions.
IOTA was chosen for its strong focus on identity infrastructure. Its ledger natively supports identity documents and embeds identity logic into the consensus process, allowing Impierce to rely on the network with the same confidence as financial transactions. The IOTA Identity framework provides a streamlined integration path and offers clear opportunities for future scalability.
Jelle Millenaar, CEO and Co-Founder of Impierce Technologies, explains: “We chose IOTA as our first public DLT because of its unique ability to host the current state of digital identities directly on the ledger. This ensures constant availability, robust security, and native privacy-preserving features, all critical for building trust in the next generation of decentralized identity solutions.”
How Impierce Plans to Use IOTA Technology and Products
- IOTA Mainnet, the always‑on, censorship‑proof foundation for live credential issuer look‑ups.
- IOTA Identity for on-chain decentralized identifiers and off-chain, privacy-preserving verifiable credentials.
- IOTA Gas Station, background fee‑sponsoring that makes every action feel gas‑less.

Orobo: Digital Product Passports for Trusted and Compliant Supply Chains
Orobo is building the infrastructure to meet Europe’s incoming sustainability requirements. Their Digital Product Passport platform enables manufacturers to trace and verify a product’s entire lifecycle – from raw material sourcing to end-of-life disposal – while aligning with regulations like the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation.
Designed to work with global supply chains, Orobo offers a neutral data layer that integrates into enterprise systems and enables transparent reporting, lifecycle analytics, and cross-border compliance.
Orobo recently debuted its first battery-focused Digital Product Passport at GITEX Asia 2025, where it was proudly featured as part of the Singapore100 innovation showcase. The conference marked an exciting milestone, as Orobo began onboarding partners across the battery value chain, with electric vehicle batteries representing our first active use case.
How Orobo is Tackling Sustainability Challenges
Orobo tackles major hurdles in the sustainability ecosystem:
- Data fragmentation, where lifecycle information is siloed or inconsistent.
- Greenwashing, where claims are unverifiable or exaggerated.
- Regulatory pressure, with growing demand for proof across value chains.
By giving each product a verifiable digital twin with DPP data, powered by IOTA, Orobo enables manufacturers, recyclers, and regulators to coordinate on one trusted source of truth.
Why Orobo Chooses IOTA
In the sustainability space, trust is everything. Orobo uses IOTA’s public blockchain infrastructure to represent actors through digital identities and allow them to immutably, as well as verifiably, anchor product and supply chain information, ensuring transparency without sacrificing privacy or efficiency. This is especially important for meeting cross-border regulations and enabling independent third-party verification. IOTA's scalable architecture allows Orobo to embed digital product passports across industries in a way that is both future-proof and interoperable.
Sann Carrière, Founder and Director at Orobo, says: “We chose IOTA because of its focus on real-world applications and a shared vision for digital ecosystems that serve both people and planet. Its architecture enables us to anchor sustainability data transparently and at scale, making it ideal for deploying digital product passports in complex industrial environments.”
Orobo x IOTA: Planned Adoption & Products
- IOTA Mainnet as the public audit ledger where every lifecycle checkpoint leaves an immutable trace.
- IOTA Identity for digital company identities linking each actor to its sustainability claims.
- IOTA Gas Station for a smooth user experience by sponsoring transaction fees.
- Custom Move Contracts + IOTA SDKs, available in Rust and TypeScript, for an immutable audit trail of immutable and verifiable product-related information.
- IOTA Explorer as a straightforward window into on-chain information, where regulators and recyclers can verify every footprint.

ObjectID: Verifiable Product Identities to Power Transparency and Authenticity
ObjectID is the flagship solution from SDV Consulting, an applied tech firm specializing in blockchain and AI. The product assigns real-world objects a verifiable, tamper-proof identity that can be tracked and updated over time. These identities function as digital twins – powering traceability, ownership validation, and anti-counterfeit measures.
SDV Consulting has delivered projects in industrial safety, data integrity, and distributed backup using IOTA and Interplanetary File System. ObjectID is their entry into product-focused infrastructure.
Solving Supply-Chain Challenges
Across industries, ObjectID addresses three recurring issues:
- Food and pharma, enabling traceability from origin to delivery.
- Luxury goods, offering customers confidence and resale market transparency.
- Manufacturing, creating accountability in complex global supply chains.
By standardizing verifiable digital identities, ObjectID ensures consistent, fraud-resistant trust infrastructure that scales across verticals.
Why Public DLT and Why IOTA
For SDV Consulting, choosing a public distributed ledger was essential to avoid the limitations of private blockchains such as reduced transparency and centralized points of failure. ObjectID anchors dynamic object records to IOTA’s public infrastructure, enabling secure, scalable, and verifiable product identity management across a product's lifecycle. The system integrates IOTA Identity and domain-linked verifiable credentials to cryptographically bind each object to its legitimate creator, ensuring that brand impersonation or forgery is technically impossible.
Stefano Della Valle, CEO of SDV Consulting, summarizes their decision: “We chose IOTA after extensive technical exploration because it aligns with our vision: real-world adoption is what truly matters. IOTA offers a scalable, affordable, and secure infrastructure not just for IoT, but for enterprise-grade applications like ObjectID, which links digital identities and domains to real-world products without relying on traditional databases.”
This model ensures data integrity and trust without centralized control. Through a decentralized verification process, anyone can independently confirm a product's legitimacy, a key differentiator in the track-and-trace space.
How ObjectID Will Use IOTA Tech and Products
- IOTA Mainnet, the single source of truth anchoring each product’s digital twin.
- IOTA Identity, cryptographic signatures binding real-world brands to their physical products.
- IOTA Gas Station, sponsored transaction fees for a truly scalable end-user solution.
- Custom Move Contracts + IOTA SDKs, available in Rust and TypeScript, to manage real-world object tracking and their attached events.
- IOTA Explorer, an open dashboard where buyers watch provenance unfold in real time.
What’s Next
