The IOTA MOVEATHON Hackathon is Here!

Register Now for the First Edition of IOTA’s New Hackathon Series

We proudly present our IOTA MOVEATHON, a series of hackathons that invite builders all over the world to develop innovative solutions on IOTA. Over 150,000 USD in prizes are up for grabs. The first hackathon focuses on the APAC region and runs for nine weeks, ending with a final showcase judging event in Singapore on June 6, 2025, where the winners will be presented.

IOTA MOVEATHON (www.moveathon.build) kicks off a new era in development for the IOTA network. With our implementation of the Move programming language, we have opened the door to new utility and innovation on the IOTA network. Therefore, we will support teams and individuals in tapping into the opportunities of this new paradigm with a series of hackathons to introduce Move on IOTA and support innovative builders in realizing their visions.

The first edition of IOTA MOVEATHON kicks off with the registration period today, March 3, 2025. During the next nine weeks, these are the key dates to pay attention to:

March 3, 2025: Registration is open today, so teams and individual developers can submit their details to the platform.
- Applicants who fulfill the registration criteria will be invited into a dedicated IOTA MOVEATHON Discord.
- The Discord will be the central IOTA MOVEATHON hub, handling the teams' online mentoring and support. Each track will be supported by a dedicated workshop and an AMA event.
April 7, 2025: The official Opening Ceremony of the Hackathon.
May 4, 2025: Code Freeze, followed by a quality screening.
May 19, 2025: Judging begins, ending on May 23, 2025.
June 6, 2025: A real-life networking and showcase event will be held in Singapore. The successful teams will be invited to Singapore to present their solutions and meet with the IOTA team, partners, investors, and supporters to foster a strong developer community and build lasting connections and relationships with the teams. The winners’ travel expenses will be covered up to 500 USD per person.

The total prize pool for this first IOTA MOVEATHON is more than 150K USD, which will be distributed as follows:

In this track, participants will create applications that bring real-world data and assets onto the blockchain using IOTA’s advanced capabilities. From supply chain tracking to tokenized real estate, explore how Move can enable trustless interaction with the physical world. This is your opportunity to bridge the gap between tangible and digital ecosystems.
DeF(A)i
Dive into the future of decentralized finance powered by artificial intelligence and IOTA’s innovative technologies. This track invites you to build DeFi solutions that leverage AI to enhance decision-making, risk management, and user experience. Create smarter lending platforms, predictive financial models, or personalized investment strategies that push the boundaries of traditional and decentralized finance.
Tooling & Infrastructure (chain abstraction, digital identity, cross-chain transfers, EVM & Move)
Create essential tools and infrastructure that lay the foundation for a decentralized future. This track is for builders passionate about enabling seamless chain abstraction, robust identity solutions, efficient cross-chain transfers, and smooth interactions between EVM and Move. Build the developer tools and infrastructure that empower innovation and expand the capabilities of the IOTA ecosystem.
