Europe is entering a new phase of its Web3 journey. A phase focused not on hype, but on real skills, real products, and real outcomes.

The MasterZ × IOTA Hackathon was created exactly for this purpose.

Powered by IOTA and co-organized with MasterZ, this 100% online hackathon is designed to take participants from learning to building, combining structured education, hands-on development, and direct exposure to one of the most advanced decentralized ecosystems in the industry.

Fully online and open to developers and innovators from across Europe, the hackathon will run between February and March 2026, with applications closing on January 31, 2026.

A Hackathon That Starts With Learning, Not Guessing

Most hackathons assume you already know Web3.This one doesn’t.

From February 15 to February 28, 2026, participants will take part in a dedicated live online learning phase, with interactive sessions led by experts from MasterZ and the IOTA ecosystem.

This phase is designed to ensure that even participants with no prior Web3 experience can confidently move into development.

You will learn:

  • Web3 fundamentals and architecture
  • how IOTA enables real-world decentralized applications
  • the basics of the Move programming language
  • how to approach Web3 with a product-first mindset

Building Real Web3 Products in March 2026

After the learning phase, the hackathon enters its core stage: the building phase, running throughout March 2026.

Participants will collaborate, design, and develop functional prototypes, supported by mentors and the MasterZ community. The focus is on practical, production-oriented applications, not theoretical experiments.

Projects can target real-world use cases such as:

  • supply chain and logistics
  • digital identity and data verification
  • asset tokenization
  • document tracking and trustless workflows

The objective is simple: build something that could realistically exist beyond the hackathon.

From Online Hackathon to Berlin Demo Day

The journey concludes on March 31, 2026, with the final stage and awards ceremony held in Berlin, Germany.

The Top 5 projects will be invited to an exclusive 3-day trip to Berlin, with flights and accommodation fully covered, to present their solutions directly to the IOTA Foundation.

This private showcase may unlock:

  • grant opportunities
  • tailored acceleration programs
