Welcome Alexey Sobolev to the IOTA Foundation
Alexey Sobolev is an enthusiastic software engineer with 9 years of experience in development of complex IT systems with a strong focus on front end development. He has been active in the fields of eCommerce, mobile application development, and large enterprise software systems since early 2009, gaining extensive expertise with regard to software quality optimization, system architecture, and product development.
Alexey will predominantly work on web and mobile applications by integrating various modern technologies and frameworks such as React, Node, and WebAssembly.
Prior to joining the IOTA Foundation, Alexey worked as a software developer and solution architect for Mobizcorp, one of the leading digital commerce consulting companies, several start-ups and also for companies from the fintech and enterprise sectors. During this time he was responsible for leading small teams and participating in planning, analysis, and implementation of solutions in support of business objectives.
He has hands-on experience leading all stages of front end application development, including requirements definition, architecture, testing, and support.
Alexey graduated in IT-Systems Engineering at the Hasso Plattner Institute in Potsdam, Germany. He is very fascinated by how technologies such as distributed ledgers can enable new ideas like connected and self-driving vehicles. Alexey is passionate about new technologies and frameworks, embedded application development, and machine learning.
IOTA caught my interest because of its core concepts, which overcome the limitations of the traditional blockchain technology. The concept of IOTA as an open source scalable distributed ledger technology, decentralised and without fees, is very important for adoption by our partners. It’s exciting that it runs on embedded devices and allows any organization to run its own nodes. Distributed ledger technologies have a future in a world of connected devices, as well as data marketplaces and intelligent infrastructure. Since IOTA achieves zero transaction fees and enables everyone to send and receive encrypted messages over the ledger, it enables broad usage in a variety of use cases that were very cost-inefficient or even impossible before.
I find it telling that IOTA is already working together with multiple industry big players and great partner companies from the automotive and logistics sectors. I am thrilled to be joining the IOTA Foundation and its great team and look forward to contributing to the further development of the technology and spreading it across even more industries and areas.

Alexey Sobolev has been supporting the project in the development of use cases and Proof of Concepts with different companies, to demonstrate the potential of IOTA. He is now joining the IOTA Foundation officially and will be spending even more time on assisting in growing the ecosystem from a technical point of view, particularly with implementation with corporations.
