Professor Vassil Dimitrov holds a PhD degree in Applied Mathematics from the Mathematical Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in 1995. At the moment he is a Full Professor at the Department of Computer Engineering, University of Calgary, Canada.  

His research interests include implementation of encryption algorithms, discrete mathematics, image processing, digital watermarking and related topics. Dr. Dimitrov is an author of three books, more than 100 research papers in the fields mentioned and holds three patents. Several of his algorithms in domain of elliptic curve cryptography are regarded as the fastest and most efficient from both software and hardware point of view. Here is some of his exciting work.  

I will contribute with my expertise on implementation of encryption algorithms, knowledge on discrete mathematics and graph theory and FPGA/ASIC implementation of encryption algorithms. Last few years I have done very considerable work on the development of fast parallel linear algebra algorithms and software; the tools invented can be directly used by IOTA.

Vassil is a great addition to IOTA as the technology and ecosystem keep maturing and adoption is accelerating. His seminal expertise in areas ranging from cryptography to integrated circuits will be of tremendous value to the development and research of IOTA toward a production ready standardized protocol.
