Evaldas Drąsutis lives in Vilnius, Lithuania. He started programming at age 16, by coding 2nd generation soviet computers at the hardware level with octal code and punch tapes. Since then Evaldas has held a variety of software-related positions, as an academy researcher, full stack programmer (OS/2, C, many other languages and systems), departmental manager, co-founder and CEO of a successful software company. Evaldas holds a PhD in mathematics and CS from Moscow State University and MBA degrees. Despite being in managerial positions most of his career, he is a techie by nature and never forgot his main profession and passion. Since 2017, he has been working as an IOTA community developer on several open source projects in the domain of Tangle metrics and Qubic. Evaldas is joining IOTA Foundation’s engineering team.

I fell in love with IOTA immediately after reading the whitepaper. At that time, I wasn’t able to assess how innovative IOTA was by offering solutions for fundamental limitations of blockchain technology.

I was just attracted by the mathematical beauty of the Tangle and the probabilistic swarm nature of IOTA. At first, I couldn’t even believe it was practically feasible. It seemed so crazy. But it was indeed feasible.

So I decided that this is the future, and I want to contribute to it. It is a privilege to join IOTA Foundation, to work with brilliant people and with world-changing ideas every day.

We first noticed Evaldas experimenting with Traveling IOTA metrics and later with his development of Qubic components in Go. Evaldas will continue working with the Qubic team. His broad experience, both technical and business, allow him to work on different aspects of IOTA development. We look forward to working with him. Please give him a warm welcome!
